I’m hoping that most of you noticed my absence rather than thinking that crazy ol’ Jane is still bloggin’, right? I thought I was smarter than a 5th grader and decided I knew how to update my blog. Turns out I don’t know how and fell into the abyss of Narnia for about 2 weeks. Luckily, a super tech-savvy friend of mine pulled me out and saved the blog!
The great thing is in my time away I gathered an arsenal of topics to write about in the next few weeks. With that I also became more humbled about this little blog I’ve created.
I received an email from a reader that really inspired me to never stop writing. I certainly don’t have any desire to stop but there are definitely times when writer’s block sets in or my schedule dictates the frequency of my posting. Her email didn’t say anything grand or long-winded. It basically said that she understands schedules get packed but missed my posts and hopes all is well.
I actually think my hand went over my heart and quite possibly a tear formed. It was really comforting to know falling off the radar is noticed and I am writing for an audience. I always know there are readers but no amount of Facebook likes could ever replace someone taking the time to send me an email and reaffirm that I am loved.
This is actually something I am very bad doing myself. I’ll see a pretty girl with gorgeous hair, a guy that smells sinfully delicious or a friend who looks leaner than the last time I saw her and I don’t blink. Inside I’m thinking wonderfully pleasant things about them but I just assume they know. If it wasn’t for that adoring reader making sure I knew how she felt about my blog, I would have been none the wiser. I’m thankful for her and that I get to call her a fan.
Aside from re-igniting the writer fire from within my soul, I also thank her for making me want to be a better person. I guess…in a way…this post is for her!
